Our Philosophy - Teaching Children to Have Fun with Fitness!

We believe that the enjoyment of physical activity is vital to a healthy and happy lifestyle, starting from childhood and continuing throughout life. We endeavour to instil, encourage and support this desire for movement in children in the early stages of their development, giving them the tools to build fitness for life.

We believe that physical fitness provides children with greater confidence in their ability, raises their self-esteem, energises their bodies and most importantly helps them to simply feel good about themselves. At Little Fit Kidz, we aim to provide age and developmentally-appropriate activites to enhance a child's fine and gross motor skills, as well as promote functional movement and an awareness of one's own body and its capabilities.

Participating in our program will help children become confident with social interactions in a group environment, whilst also teaching them about patience when turn-taking and how to respect each others' personal space.

Keep in mind....

Regular exercise has many benefits for children, in terms of both physical and mental health and a few of the long-term advantages are:

  • Stronger immunity: improvement is seen in the bodies' ability to fight disease and children are less prone to colds, allergies and diseases, including cancer.
  • Less likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes: by increasing insulin sensitivity and improving carbohydrate metabolism.
  • Building a stronger cardiovascular system, including heart and lung capacity.
  • Children are less likely to become overweight.
  • Muscles and bones are strengthened, reducing the risk of osteoporosis later in life.
  • Active children have enhanced brain metabolism and therefore improved memory and brain function.
  • Active children are able to concentrate better and longer.
  • Regular exercise has been shown to dramatically decrease the risk of emotional problems such as anxiety and depression as well as enhance positive mood and outlook in children and improve quality of sleep.
  • Habits are established early in life, and evidence suggests that physically active children are more likely to mature into physically active adults.

Session Summary:

Each session will have some new games/activities, however the children will become familiar with certain, integral parts of the program base, allowing them to build their confidence by becoming better and faster at performing the particular game/exercise4.

The sessions are courses of circuit-based training and/or games.

Examples include:

  • Obstacle courses
  • Agility ladder runs
  • Exercise /games involving props (bean bags, scarves, hoops)
  • Musical movement games (freeze, animal actions)
  • Parachute games

Children will be taught to warm up at the start of the session with cardiovascular-type activites and cool down by slowly stretching their bodies out at the end.
